 English Abstract:

The study aimed to explore adolescent drug abusers’ experiences of drug abuse involvement, drug abuse suspension, drug re-abuse, and continuous rehabilitation from a narrative perspective. Research data was collected through in-depth interviews and then concluded and complied through a “holistic-content” analysis. The findings of the study showed that adolescents were involved with drug abuse due to many intertwined reasons: the exposure to environments where drugs abounded, leading to the growing curiosity and the misconception that drugs were harmless; the desire to get along well with peers; financial affordability, and the obsession with the pleasant feelings from using drugs. The study also discovered that drug abuse could escalate to the next level based in their experiences, i.e. drug addicts would go out of their way to get drugs even without any financial ability. The study discovered from the experience of drug abuse suspension that imprisonment penalties urged adolescents to self-introspect and that family’s support and care was the key to their determination of receiving rehabilitation. Involvement with familiar environments and drug users, along with one’s inability to conquer psychological addiction were the main reasons leading to re-abuse, according to the study findings from the experience of drug re-abuse.
