人溺,己溺? ──性侵害防治社工替代性創傷歷程研究<P>The Research of Vicarious Traumatic Process for Sexual Assault Prevention Social Workers.

“Vicarious traumatization” means that it is the trauma encountered by the person who provides help and this is because that person empathizes with the survivor. Its structure encompasses the layers in recognition, physical and mental aspects and its applications can be wide and far reaching whereas current domestically relevant documentations are few and far between. Thus the objective of this research rests at the fact that by adopting vicarious traumatization theory as the baseline approach, it explores the work histories of the social workers engaged in sexual assault programs. Based upon this, this researcher conducted interviews with five social workers who had at least 1 year working experience centered on sexual assault prevention and had experienced vicarious traumatization. The findings from the interviews were analyzed through two narrative analyses: “category--content” and “category--format” and summary of the findings are listed as follow: 1. The story structure in “initiation, undertaking, transformation and conclusion” is used for analysis and it reveals that the work process of the social workers of sexual assault prevention can be summarized into the following themes: 1. “Unfamiliarity and adjustment”; 2. “Commitment and trauma”; 3. “Predicament and growth”; 4. “Ending and rebirth”. 2. The aspects which the social worker of sexual assault prevention would most likely bear are that, first of all it is the recognition within the reference structure as well as the self capability and self resource; next, the psychological needs and memory awareness for safety followed with the worldview and spirituality within the reference structure. Other than these, trust, respect, intimacy and control, the so called psychological needs are also subject to damage during the work process of social worker.
3. As for the strategy stemmed from coping vicarious traumatization by the social worker, we have found that at the professional level, they are “professional advancement studies” and “support groups” whereas in the institutional level, they are “institutional support” and “website support”. On the individual levels, they include “self awareness”, “spiritual recovery”, “psychological therapy”, “borderline definition”, “establishment of connection”, “leaving the stressful environment behind”, a total of 6 items. 4. In retrospect, while social workers of sexual assault prevention viewing their work processes, all of them would recognize the fact that by engaging in sexual assault prevention project, it brings forth both the reward and growth. As for traumatization they are born during the work process, the social workers manage to treat “finding the significance from traumatization” as the source of strength, moreover, they feel that even there are plenty of moments in trial and tribulation while serve as the social workers for sexual assault prevention, nonetheless these memories are invaluable and indispensible. This thesis intends to provide recommendations to social worker’s workload and welfare policy provided by both the public and private institutions, according to research findings which base upon the views of researcher towards the social worker’s cultivation education, on-the-job training for social worker of sexual assault prevention.
