Crime Opportunity Theory in social criminology (Living Styles/Exposure Model, Routine Activity Theory, Victim Events, Victim Characteristics, and Victim Structure Option Theory), Rational Choice in economics, Environmental Design in architecture (Defense Space and Prevention of Situational Crime) are always applied to burglary research which requires interdisciplinary theory and concept. Theory exists with its meaning and valve from the perspective of disciplinary development. However, whether two theories contradict each other must be taken into consideration seriously when more than two theories are conducted in a research. Thus, this study is based on Rational Choice Theory, beginning with criminal’s role to explain burglary behavior and aiming at forming crime process. The characteristics of crime process, based on the results of analysis of three interviews, include: Burglary is purposive. When an individual commits a crime, he/she must experience a 7-phaase choice—motive, the number of criminal, time, region, residence, the target, and disposal of targets. Each phase consists of “use of information” and “choice result” by a criminal. Choices are made by the criminal in the 7-phase choice, based on the information about “contact with others”, “the distance with the target”, “social environment”, and “criminal experience.” The change of information leads to crime process. The longer a criminal commits a crime, the clearly crime process is found. The study discusses about Rational Choice Theory, contrasting with the study by Juang, Jhung-jin (2003, 2006), and suggestions are presented for crime prevention, research methodology, and continuing research.
