本計畫目的有：（一）系統化解析連續住宅竊盜犯，在作案前、作案中、作案後三階段的作案手法，並檢視個人特徵、作案手法、犯罪習癖或儀式行為之間的關聯性；（二）是蒐集國內連續住宅竊盜個案的相關紀錄及地理資訊，套用地緣剖繪的基本原理，分析連續住宅竊盜犯的空間行為模式及其特性；（三）引用多變量多元此度統計分析，探索與建構連續住宅竊盜犯的個人特徵與作案手法、空間行為兩種行為跡證相連結的偵查輔助技術。擬透過官方資料內容分析、監獄服刑個案訪談、案發地點實地調查等三種方式，針對六十名曾犯下五件以上住宅竊盜案件的受刑人，蒐集正確而完整的實證資料。本計畫率先嘗試以犯罪剖繪及地緣剖繪，兩種新偵查技術的相關原理作基礎，進行犯罪心理學、環境犯罪學和犯罪偵查學的科際整合研究，深入剖析住宅慣竊的作案手法特徵及空間行為模式，並檢視這兩類行為跡證與慣竊背景特徵三者之間的脈絡關係。

English Abstract

There is a dearth of empirical study on the burglary investigation in Taiwan, and therefore this research is designed to incorporate both investigative tools of criminal profiling and geographical profiling to conduct a systematic examination on various aspects of serial residential burglar’s behavioral evidence. Specifically, the study aims to (i) verify whether criminal propensity and criminal opportunity variables have a mediating effect on crime scene behavior, (ii) identify whether criminal propensity or criminal opportunity has a stronger effect on crime scene behaviors, and (iii) identify which crime scene behavior criminal opportunity/criminal propensity variables and more important. In addition to literature, data collections on a sample of 60 serial residential burglars will incorporate those methods of content analysis of official documents, field investigation of crime scenes, and semi-structure interview of incarcerated offenders to gather information from various facets and to verify one another. The study will enrich our understandings of specific features of serial burglars that particular influence both the modus operandi and the spatial behavior of the individuals committing them, and by which law enforcement official can improve its capability in solving this type of property crime.
